Special polymers

Polymers are one of the most important groups of materials in the modern world. They are used in a wide range of applications such as automotive, aerospace, construction, electronics and many others.

THECON
Thermally conductive polymer

Alternative to commonly used metals

Thecon is a thermally conductive polymer with simple processing based on the principle of mixing two liquid components, primarily designed for industrial processing.

Thecon is used for the thermally conductive connection of water cooling circuits with thermally stressed parts. The cured material is easy to machine and has no disadvantages compared to metals with cold joints.

Properties of THECON

  • State:
Liquid to mushy (solid after curing)
  • Base color:
    Grey to black
  • Operating temperature:
    < 100 °C
  • Decomposition temperature:
    > 380 °C
  • Density:
    1,5–2 g/cm3
  • Thermal conductivity:
    50–70 W/mK
  • Curing temperature:
    20 °C
  • Curing time:
24–48 h (depending on the environment)
  • Accelerated curing temperature:
    50–60 °C
  • Accelerated curing time:
60 min (when material is fully heated)
The material is health-safe and no special processing conditions are required.
The properties of THECON can be modified to a certain extent according to customer requirements.

The 3-step processing

  • Step 1:
Mixing the two liquid components into one homogeneous liquid/mash
  • Step 2:
Appling the polymer to the desired area
  • Step 3:
Curing at room temperature or accelerated at higher temperatures
